FAQ’s:

Where are you located?

We proudly serve clients from two in person locations and virtually as needed.

In Person Locations

Our primary practice location is 1329 Cherry Way, Suite 700 Gahanna, Ohio 43230.

The Upper Arlington Office location is 1720 Zollinger Rd, Columbus Ohio 43221.

Therapy Rates

The rate for most therapy at Gestalt Columbus ranges from $160-$230 per 45-60 minute session. Sliding Scale and Pro Bono sessions are offered with our Counselor Trainee.

Details on Therapy Costs

The fee varies based on the type of therapy (individual, couples, family, parenting work) and your therapist. The fee is payable to your therapist by cash, check, or credit card (FSA and HSA cards accepted) at each session. Longer sessions can be arranged and will be prorated accordingly.

Coordination of Care

How we work with other professionals:

We often work closely with other professionals such as Pediatricians, Primary Care Providers, Psychiatrists, Assessing and School Psychologists, as well as Occupational and Speech Therapists. We are proud to offer a collaborative approach to treatment and have seen tremendous value in open communication between practitioners.  You will have the option to sign a Release of Information for us to discuss details with other providers if you so choose. Your privacy and confidentiality remain of great importance to us and your clinician will explain the expectations and limitations of confidentiality in this and all other areas.

Insurance

In order to provide 100% confidential treatment with competitive pricing options, we are not contracted with any insurance providers. We are an out of network provider. Typically, insurance plans restrict the type and duration of treatment options available and we believe in empowering clients to pursue treatment options that are right for their unique needs.

We accept all major credit cards and FSA/HSA cards as forms of payment.

Details on Insurance Coverage

If you choose to submit to your insurance company for reimbursement, your therapist will provide you with the necessary documentation, a “Superbill.” This is a medical billing receipt for services with an out-of-network provider. It will include a diagnoses, billing codes, amount paid, type and date of service. We cannot guarantee reimbursement from your insurance company.

How do I talk to my child about therapy?

Often, children and teens worry that they have done something wrong or that something is wrong with them if they are brought to therapy.

A lot of times it can help for the adult(s) to sit down together with the child and talk about the upcoming appointment. It can help to show the child or teen a photo of the therapist and give them time to ask questions. Here is a sample script of how you might talk to your child or teen about the upcoming appointment.

Sample Script Here:

“We love seeing you grow up, and we know that you’re getting older. We are aware that there might be times when you want to talk something through and don’t really want to share it all with us. That’s ok! Sometimes it can help to have an outside perspective to help you learn more about yourself and who you are in the world. It can feel really nice to talk to somebody whose only job is to listen to you and help you understand how you’re feeling.

We think it would be a good time for you to try that out, so we’ve made you an appointment with a counselor. If this person does not feel like a good fit we will work together to find the right person who is, but we are excited for you to have this opportunity.”

Where can I find more information about your practice policies?

What if I need to cancel my appointment?

We do have a cancelation policy to protect the time of our clients and our clinicians.

We prioritize our clients by holding space for each person we see. When clients cancel an appointment, our therapists offer that space to other clients who need an appointment that week. When clients cancel within 24-hours or no show, other clients miss out on an opportunity to be seen. Therefore, we will charge the credit card on file the full session fee for no shows and cancellations within 24-hours of the scheduled session.

Good Faith Estimates and The No Surprises Act

You may obtain a good faith estimate of our charges upon request prior to scheduling with me.

The No Surprises Act is a federal law which provides you with the right to a good faith estimate of the cost of services at our practice.  However, Ohio licensing board rules require us to provide you with the actual cost of our charges in a written informed consent form to which you must agree prior to our providing services.  That will be available to you prior to you being seen for services and prior to any billing.  In most cases it is impossible to estimate how many sessions you will need, and that will not be determined until your concerns are evaluated and will also vary based on the progress that you make, which depends in part on your efforts with the process.  You will be free to discontinue services at any time or the services may otherwise be terminated in accordance with the informed consent form language.

Although the No Surprises Law says that you may initiate a dispute process if the actual charges are substantially in excess of the Good Faith Estimated charges, i.e. if you are charged $400 more than the estimated cost for a session or for the total estimate provided, that is unlikely to happen and would be a violation of licensing board rules, since you will be agreeing up front to actual charges per session prior to being seen.  Dispute information is available upon request, however.  Any changes to our fees will require a change in the informed consent form fees, which you must agree to prior to having them go into effect, otherwise the fees will remain in effect for 12 months.
